About Liza

I am a TEFL-certified English instructor, lawyer, and legal educator.

I have a diverse background in English language education. My experiences in working with ESL learners include:

  • Privately tutoring a range of English learners, from students to artists and physicians

  • Teaching English conversation at a high school in France

  • Coordinating the Conversation & Culture English language program at the University of Pennsylvania

  • Mentoring international Fulbright scholars

  • Orienting groups of international students and professionals – from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and South America – to American culture through conversational activities and trips

  • Providing tech support for an online language-learning software platform to an international clientele

I am also a licensed attorney with a background in employment and labor law. I graduated from law school in 2017 as the valedictorian of my class. I entered private practice as a litigator and later worked in government.

Prior to law school, I obtained a master's degree in art history at the University of Pennsylvania. I also did coursework in the sociolinguistics of education while at Penn. I particularly enjoyed teaching a section of intro to art history as a TA. I have continued to pursue my love of teaching as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where I have taught courses in labor and employment law.

As a lifelong language-learner myself, I understand the challenges that come with a new language, particularly when interacting with native speakers. I bring that empathy to bear in my approach to teaching.
